What is Zyvox Linezolid?

Zyvox Linezolid is an antibiotic medication used to treat certain bacterial infections. It is sold under the brand name Zyvox and also as generic linezolid. It is part of a class of antibiotics known as oxazolidinones. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria and is used to treat skin infections, pneumonia, and other infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Common Use

Dosage and Direction

For adults, the recommended dosage is 600 mg every 12 hours for 10-14 days. For children, the recommended dosage is 10-20 mg/kg every 8-12 hours for 10-14 days.

Also, tell your doctor if you have any other medical conditions such as liver or kidney disease, diabetes, or any heart problems. Contraindications

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Zyvox Linezolid, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses at the same time.

Overdose

If you take too much Zyvox Linezolid, contact your doctor or seek emergency medical attention right away. Symptoms of an overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and dizziness.

Storage

Store Zyvox Linezolid at room temperature away from light and moisture. Keep this medication out of reach of children and pets.
